WHO expert panel recommends booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine for those having weak immunity

"Moderately and severely immunocompromised persons" should be jabbed with an additional dose, said Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on immunization (SAGE).

The WHO expert panel has recommended a booster dose of the Covid-19 vaccine for those having a weak immune system.

According to the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on immunization (SAGE) said, "moderately and severely immunocompromised persons" should be jabbed with an additional dose. They also said the reason behind this recommendation is that such individuals are less likely to respond adequately to vaccination.

The SAGE also said, "when implementing this recommendation, countries should initially aim at maximizing 2nd dose coverage in that population and thereafter the third dose, starting in the oldest age groups," said the panel of experts.

Meanwhile, vaccination drives are going on, people are taking their Covid-19 vaccination jabs, whereas India is also witnessing a slide downshift in cases, the overall tally count is getting down across the country.
