Music composer A R Rahman's mother Kareema Begum passed away in Chennai on Monday. After her demise, the Oscar and Grammy award winning composer took to his Twitter and Instagram handle and shared a solo picture of her without any caption. Rahman shared a close bond with his mother and considered her the pillar of his strength. Earlier in many interviews he said that his mother always believed in him and his passion for music. She had been ill for quite some time and took her last breath in Chennai.
Several colleagues and friends of A R Rahman offered their condolences to him for his irreplaceable loss. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu K Palaniswami also paid tribute to Rahman's mother on Twitter. Harshdeep Kaur tweeted, "Dear Sir... deeply saddened by your loss... may god give you strength. Remembering Amma's wonderful and gentle soul. She will forever remain in our hearts." Director Mohan Raja, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur, music composers Shreya Ghoshal, Thaman, producer Dr Dhananjayan and many others paid their condolences on social media.
