Actor-producer Rajiv Kapoor dies at 58 in Mumbai

Rajiv Kapoor died on February 9 in Mumbai due to a cardiac arrest.


Rajiv Kapoor, youngest son of Raj Kapoor and Krishna Kapoor, died on Tuesday afternoon around 1 pm in Mumbai. Mr Kapoor suffered a major cardiac arrest at his residence in Chembur following which he was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead. The 58-year-old who was an actor as well as a producer and director had two elder brothers Randhir Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor. Rishi Kapoor's wife Neetu Kapoor took to Instagram and posted a photograph of Mr Kapoor and wrote "RIP" below it. Rishi Kapoor died last year after a two year long battle with cancer.

Randhir Kapoor confirmed the news of his brother's death. While speaking to Times of India, he said, "I have lost my youngest brother, Rajiv. He is no more. The doctors tried their best but could not save him.” He added, "I am at the hospital, waiting for his body." However, an official statement has not been released by the family. Mr Kapoor was known for the lead role he played in the film 'Ram Teri Ganga Maili' while he produced famous movies 'Henna' and 'Aa Ab Laut Chalen.

Several people from the film industry paid their condolences on social media including Soni Razdan, Sophie Choudry, Naved Jafri, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Maheep Kapoor, Bhavana Pandey and others paid respects.
