Actor Ranbir Kapoor Didn't Charge Fee for Brahmastra

The actor plays the male lead, Shiva, in the film!

Brahmastra has finally changed the fate of Bollywood with its box office collection. The film has collected over Rs. 360 crore globally and is expected to do even better in the coming days.

Reports claim that Brahmastra is made on a budget of Rs 650 crore.

Rumours have also been rife that to make up for the mammoth budget, lead actors Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor had to forgo their fees.

After filmmaker Ayan Mukerji commented on this matter, Ranbir clarified that he didn’t charge a single amount for the film.

Ranbir Kapoor played the male lead in Brahmastra. Amid reports of him forgoing his fee due to the film’s exceeding budget, Ranbir told trade analyst Komal Nahta, “Aapne jo prashna pucha ki maine kuch charge kiya ya nhi kiya, actually maine kiya (You asked if I charged anything or not, actually I did).

This is an equity I have for life, I'm also a part producer of the film. Meri nazariya aur soch long run hai.

Maine part one me paese nhi liye (I didn't charge for part 1) but eventually jo faith aur belief hai ki 3 parts m jo yeh film bana sakti hai (but the faith that I have about the amount that the film will make over three parts), that is beyond anything I'd get as an actor, price as an actor.”

Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji also commented on the matter in the same interview.

He said, “The truth is that the film has been made because of a lot of personal sacrifice. It is true that the amount that Ranbir would make as a star actor, he didn’t take anything for the making of Brahmastra. This is a very big thing, because it would not be possible to make this film.”

Speaking about Alia, he said, “When she joined the film, this was 2014, she only had a couple of releases. She isn’t the star that she is today.
