Air Force’s objection to “Uniform and language” in Netflix series

After a teaser was shared on Twitter by Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor, the Indian Air Force demanded “withdrawal” of few scenes today from a Netflix movie “AK vs AK” which is soon to be released. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, “AK vs AK” stars Anurag Kashyap and Anil Kapoor, “as themselves”, according to Netflix.

“The IAF uniform in this video is inaccurately donned & the language used is inappropriate. This does not conform to the behavioural norms of those in the Armed forces of India. The related scenes need to be withdrawn. @NetflixIndia @anuragkashyap72 #AkvsAk,” read a tweet posted by the Indian Air Force’s Official handle.

While on the same tweet shared by IAF, Anil Kapoor wrote: “No more fooling the audience please. As promised, the REAL narrative of #AKvsAK from the REAL  AK.”

Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap are seen sparring in the one-minute long clip as the seasoned actor uses foul language against the director-producer who is rarely seen in front of the camera. Anil Kapoor has been thanking the fraternity members for praising his work in the new project, said to be a mockumentary drama via his twitter handle.

Earlier this year, the Indian Air force also complained against its “undue negative portrayal” in the movie “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl” to the Central Board of Film Certification. “Dharma Productions had agreed to represent Indian Air Force (IAF) with authenticity and make all efforts to ensure that the film helps to inspire the next generation of IAF officers,” said the Air Forces in a letter to the censor board, which was also sent to the Netflix India and Dharma Productions.
