Akshay Kumar's mother, Aruna Bhatia whose health had worsened in recent days, died on Wednesday. She had been admitted to the Hiranandani Hospital in Mumbai, where she was in the intensive care unit (ICU). The actor lamented his mother's death in a tweet on Wednesday morning that read, “She was my core. And today I feel excruciating pain at the core of my other world existence. I respect your prayers as my family and I go through this time. Om Shanti.”
On Mother's Day earlier this year, Akshay Kumar wished his mother with an Instagram post. Akshay Kumar was in the UK and returned to Mumbai earlier this week to be with his mother. He was photographed at Mumbai Airport on Tuesday. He wrote in an Instagram post about his mother's health, “Incredibly shocked by your concern for my mother's health. This is a very difficult hour ... for me and my family. Each of your prayers would be of great help,” his post read. Many celebrities such as Dia Mirza, Ajay Devgan and many more took to social media and paid their condolence to the family.
Akshay returned from the UK on Monday when he learned of his mother's poor health. He has been shooting for the movie Cinderella in the UK for the past few weeks. Akshay left the shoot halfway and returned to his mother. He was even overwhelmingly thankful to his fans for praying for his mother on social media on Tuesday.
