Akshay Kumar Steps Down As Tobacco Brand Ambassador After Backlash

Brand Ambassador says, ‘I am sorry’


Bollywood fame, Akshay Kumar, well known for his work and now faces a severe backlash from the netizens for appearing in an advertisement for a tobacco brand.

 

As per the information, actor Akshay Kumar has now apologized and stepped down as the brand ambassador of the company's product. Taking to his social media handles, Khiladi Kumar, while announcing his decision to disassociate with the tobacco brand.

 

As per the information, the actor apologized to his fans and says, 'I am sorry. I would like to apologise to you, all my fans and well-wishers. Your reaction over the past few days has deeply affected me. While I have not and will not endorse tobacco, I respect the outpouring of your feelings in light of my association with Vimal Elaichi. With all humility, I step back.' 

 

He further added that the fee he has received for doing the ad will be contributed to a worthy cause. He also stated that he will be careful in the future before picking up any such advertisements. 'I have decided to contribute the entire endorsement fee towards a worthy cause.

 

In the recent ad for the pan masala brand, Shah Rukh and Ajay Devgn were seen welcoming Akshay Kumar to the ‘Vimal universe’. All of them struck the Vimal salute and chewed on the elaichi (cardamom). Akshay fans were unhappy with this. They also shared old videos of him in which he was speaking against consuming alcohol and tobacco products.

 

On the work front, Akshay Kumar was last seen in Bachchhan Paandey. His upcoming projects include Raksha Bandhan, Ram Setu, Prithviraj, and Selfiee.
