Amir Khan says: He took his Family for Granted

Amir Khan is celebrating his 57th birthday today. The actor, in a recent interview, he has revealed that the reason behind his two - divorces. He has confessed that he "he didn't shoulder his responsibilities." 

Meanwhile, on his birthday Amir Khan was seen celebrating his special day with the media. Amir Khan was seen cutting his birthday cake with the paps. 

He said that when he began his career, he was trying to build a connection with the audience, "I would start with my parents, siblings, my wives, my children all these people I am talking about my close ones. When I was 18, I joined the film industry, I got so absorbed, and I wanted to learn so much. I have given all my time to my work and I made that relationship very strong. I thought my family was with me anyway. I just wanted to win the hearts of the audience at the time - today I realize, people who were close to me, I couldn't give them time the way I wanted to." 

He added, "I was trying to build a relationship with my audience and I gave so much to that relationship, from my time to emotions. I have laughed with my audience, I have cried with them, I have held their hand. They also encouraged me at the same time. And I got completely lost, so much so that I forgot my family was waiting for me. 

He regrets not spending time with them back then. "It's my biggest mistake". But I won't blame my profession for it. Today, Ira (daughter) is 23 but when she was 4-5, I wasn't there for her. I was busy with films. Every kids needs their parents because when you are a child you have your own fears and hopes. But when she needed me the most, I wasn't by her side to hold her hand when she would get scared. And, I know that moment will never come back." 

Amir was married to Reena Dutta and has two kids - Ira Khan and Junaid Khan with her. They got divorced after 16 years of marriage. He later married Filmmaker Kiran Rao and the two have a son - Azad Rao Khan. They announced their separation last year, after 15 years of marriage. 

Amir Khan is an Indian actor, film director, producer who works in Hindi films. He is one of the most famous and talented actors of Indian cinema. Khan is recipient of numerous awards, including nine Filmfare Awards, four National Filmfare Awards, and an AACTA Award. He was honoured by the Government of India with the Padma Shri in 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in 2010. 

He began a full time acting career with a leading role in Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak ( 1988). He established himself as a leading actor in the 90s by appearing in a number of commercially successful films including Dil, Raja Hindustani etc. 

The actor delivered his first flop in several years, Thugs of Hindostan in 2018, and will now seen in Laal Singh Chaddha.
