Chadwick Boseman wins posthumous award at Golden Globes 2021

Chadwick Boseman's wife accepted the award on his behalf on Sunday.

Chadwick Boseman won the best actor award at the Golden Globes 2021. He played the role of a strong-willed trumpeter Levee in the musical period drama Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. His wife, Simone Ledward Boseman accepted the posthumous Golden Globe at Sunday's awards.

Ms Boseman gave a heartbreaking speech that left the presenter Renee Zellweger and Ma Rainey actor Viola Davis teary-eyed. “He (Chadwick) would thank god, he would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices. He would thank his incredible team, on and off set. He would say something beautiful, something inspiring. Something that would amplify that voice inside all of us that tells you, you can (do it), that helps you to keep going. And I don’t have his words," Ms Boseman said fighting back tears.

Mr Boseman died of colon cancer at the age of 43 last year after battling for four long years with the disease. He received global recognition from his role of King T'Challa of fictitious African country Wakanda aka superhero Black Panther in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
