'Demon Slayer', the best new age anime leads the Japanese box office with a record breaking $44m Japan debu

Japanese Debut worth $44m


The famous Japanese anime movie 'Demon slayer the movie: Mugen train' has successfully managed to impress and garner hoards of anime lovers across Japan as the box office collection soars a new high of $44m in mere three days.
It is said to be the biggest ever opening for a film in Japan. The film is an animation adaptation of the manga 'Demon slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba' by Koyoharu Gotoge.

Before it was rolled out into the theaters as a movie, Demon slayer was initially introduced as a 2019 TV series. The movie and the anime were both directed by Haruo Sotozoki. Haruo Sotozoki has also been a part of Cowboy Bebop:(2001) and TV series Romeo X juliet(2007).

Demon Slayer is originally a manga which closely follows the life of Tanjiro, the protagonist, who had to exxperience the loss of both his parents and three siblins who were devoured by demons which appear at night time. Tanjiro's only family left with him is Nezuko, his younger sister, who was bitten by a demon and is now herself a demon. With the help of his new teacher Tanjiro manages to suppress the want of human flesh of Nezuko, she has to sleep for long hours to maintain her health. Tanjiro successfully manages to learn the art of breathing and joins the Demon Slayer Corps. Along with his new friends Inosuke and Zenitsu, Tanjiro is all set to avenge the death of his family and bring peace to his land by curing and giving the gift of a peaceful death to all the demons he encounters on his journey.

Mugen train which means infinity train has earned $2.27m from 38 IMAX screens, a $60,000 average.
Funimation has decided to release the movie in North America early next year.
