Dilip Kumar passes away at 98

Dilip Kumar, the legendary Bollywood actor, passes away at 98. He last breathed at 7:30 am. He was admitted at Mumbai's PD Hinduja Hospital.


Legendary Bollywood actor, Dilip Kumar also known as "Tragedy King" passed away today at 7:30 am in the morning, at 98. The information was provided by Dr Jalil Parkar, a pulmonologist who was treating Dilip Kumar at PD Hinduja Hospital in Mumbai.

According to the statement given by doctors "Dilip Kumar suffered from prostate cancer and that had spread to other organs of his body, he had water in his pleural cavity and he suffered a kidney failure. He required blood transfusion multiple times. We carried the last transfusion but it didn't help. He suffered a drop in blood pressure and haemoglobin towards the end.The cancer spread made it difficult to treat him."said the doctor.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the "Cinematic legend," and tweeted, "He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world." Said his tweet.

Bollywood also paid glowing tribute to the actor, who is considered a reference frame for actors from all generations. Big B tweeted "an institution has gone". and also added that "Whenever the history of Indian Cinema will be written, it shall always be before Dilip Kumar, and after Dilip Kumar."
