In one of her recent interviews, the actress has revealed how people reacted to her decision of getting married. She also talked about her decision to require a sabbatical from work post her marriage. Speaking in one of her recent interviews, Genelia said, "When I used to be getting married, I had people telling me that Oh you're getting married, for a woman, your career is completed, I heard everything but I used to be clear that it's not getting to stop me from marrying because I wanted that. I think but now I see a positive change within the industry, where the content is evolving. There is tons of labor that artists and actors get which aren't star-driven, or monotonous. There are tons to try to today as actors."

Talking about her decision to take a break from acting, the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na actress said, "Honestly, once I got married, I want to be very clear that I wanted to spend a while with my family. I had worked such a lot before that, people may need not seen me much in Hindi cinema but in South cinema, I worked three hundred and sixty-five days of the year And hence, I felt like I needed that sort of an opportunity. I wanted to offer my family the priority then I had babies, one after the opposite, so it had been my time with my family, which I wanted and I am glad I'm therein age of the film where all of that doesn’t matter anymore."

She even further quoted that, "I am ready to work but I'm unsure if I'd want to work throughout the year. I would probably want to try to 2-3 films a year which might mean tons to me, which can help me as an actor and as an individual to grow. I want to do something which I love. I think I even have stepped out of the phase where I even have to figure all the time and take whatever work involves me", she continued.

In August this year, Genelia had revealed that she had tested COVID-10 positive. She took to her Instagram handle to share the news with her fans. "We were in close contact with someone who had tested positive, so we did the tests as a security measure. I was sure I hadn't contracted the virus as I didn't show any symptoms. So, it had been surprised once I was the sole one within the family to check positive," recounted Genelia in an exclusive interview.

Genelia is going to be making her comeback within the Anees Bazmee's It's My Life. She will be seen romancing Harman Baweja in the movie, which also stars Nana Patekar. Produced by Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, It's My Life is set to premiere on Zee Cinema on November 29, 2020.
