Goa Government Bans Film And TV Shooting

In Goa, film and TV shooting will be banned. The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) cancelled all permissions granted for film and television serial shooting due to rapid spike in Covid-19 cases. ESG is the Goa government’s nodal agency which is empowered to allow and cancel the permission for commercial shootings in the state.

Many film and commercial makers from Mumbai and Chennai recently shifted to Goa for shooting purpose. All permissions granted for film shooting in Goa have now been cancelled due to Covid crisis. The crew of the entertainment industry currently shooting in Goa have also been asked to wind up their schedules as soon as possible because this is a second wave of pandemic.

Due to tough times, the government has enforced strict curbs, including imposition of Section 144 of CrPC, which does not allow group of five or more people at same place. Due to this shootings cannot be permitted. The ESG will review its decision only after the pandemic situation is under control.

First week of May, Goa reported 3,496 new Covid-19 cases and 71 fatalities due to the virus, taking the tally of infections to 1,04,398 cases and the death toll to 1,443 in the state, according to the data shown.
