Gujarati film Chhello Show is India's official entry to Oscars 2023

The film is set to release in theatres on October 14!


Gujarati film Last Film Show (Chhello Show) is India’s official entry to the Best International Feature Film category of the 95th Academy Awards. 


The coming-of-age film has been directed by Pan Nalin. It features Bhavin Rabari, Bhavesh Shrimali, Richa Meena, Dipen Raval and Paresh Mehta in pivotal roles.


According to the information, The Film Federation of India has announced India's official entry to the Oscars 2023. 


The Gujarati film, Chhello Show, which is titled Last Film Show in English, has been selected as India's official entry to the 95th Academy Awards. It has been selected in the Best International Feature Film category.


Director Nalin Pan took to Twitter to react to the news of his film Chhello Show being India's official entry to the Oscars. "OMG! What a night this going to be! Gratitude to Film Federation of India and thank you FFI jury members. Thank you for believing in Chhello Show. Now I can breathe again and believe in cinema that entertains, inspires and enlightens! @LastFilmShow1 #ChhelloShow #Oscars (sic)," he wrote.


Further said, In a note to the media, Pan Nalin said, ”I could have never imagined such a day would come and bring light and celebration of light. Chhello Show has been enjoying love from around the world but there was an ache in my heart that how do I make India discover it? Now I can breathe again and believe in cinema that entertains, inspires and enlightens! Thank you FFI, Thank you Jury.“


Talking about Chhello Show, it is a coming-of-age drama, which revolves around a 9-year-old boy who resides in a remote village in India and his love affair with cinema. 


The film shows how the little boy spends a summer watching films from the projection booth.
