Kangana Ranaut As Indira Gandhi In Political Period Flick

Kangana to play Indira Gandhi in a political period drama


Actor Kangana Ranaut announced on her official twitter handle that she will play the role of Indira Gandhi, the former Prime Minister of India in a political drama which will be directed by Sai Kabir. The actress is enacting the role of the former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Jayalalitha in the biopic ‘Thalaivi’ and the new project will witness the journey of another powerful female politician of the country.

In a statement Kangana said that the movie won’t be an out-and-out biopic but will have all the important aspects of the political history of India which will include ‘Operation Blue Star’ and the ‘Emergency.’ The actress said “Yes we are working on the project and the script is in the final stages. It is not the biopic of Indira Gandhi. It is a grand period film. To be precise it is a political drama that will help my generation to understand (the) socio-political landscape of current India." She further added that “the film is on a book”, but she did not mention the title of the book and she concluded by saying, “Many prominent actors will be a part of the film and of course I am looking forward to play the most iconic leader that we have had in the history of Indian politics.”  

Filmmaker-Sai Kabir and Kangana on the work front have already worked in the movie ‘Revolver Rani’. Sai will write the story and screenplay for the political period flick and Kangana will produce the film. Also, Kangana's  next film will be an action-adventure film named ‘Dhaakad’ followed by ‘Thalaivi’.
