Kangana Ranaut In Legal Difficulty Over Fake Tweets on Bilkis Bano

Kangana Ranaut in Legal trouble

Kangana Ranaut in her recent tweet claimed she saw Shaheen Bagh’s Bilkis Bano aka ‘Bilkis Dadi’ at the farmer protest which later turned out to be a false tweet by the actress.Hakam Singh a lawyer belonging to Zakirpur in Punjab has released a legal notice where the lawyer demands the actress to apologize within seven days.

The actress had posted an image on the micro blogging site alleging that the famous Bilkis ‘Dadi’ was present at the farmer protest and also claimed that Bilkis was present at the protest for 100 rupees. The actress later deleted the tweet only after her tweet was labeled as ‘fake news’.

‘Bilkis Dadi’ at the anti-CAA protest at Shaheen Bagh in Delhi was a prominent protestor, earlier this year. She was also featured in the American weekly Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people of 2020 along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bollywood actor Ayushman Khurrana.

The woman in the photograph was later identified and revealed to be a 73-year-old Mohinder Kaur, who is a resident of Bahadurgarh Jandian village in Bhatinda, Punjab. Kaur later in an interview with a prominent news agency said that framing is a complicated occupation and that is why she is supporting the protest. She added further by saying “I was told some actor wrote about me like this. She never visited my home, never saw what I am doing and she said that I am available at 100 rupees”.

Advocate Kakam Singh said “I sent a legal notice for a tweet misidentifying Ms Mohinder Kaur as Bilkis Bano with an insinuation that she (Ms Kaur) was available as hired protestors for 100 rupees. The notice gives Ranaut 7 days to issue an apology failing which a defamation case will be pursued”. The actress’s remark not only “degraded the image of each lady and each person” but was also hugely disrespectful towards the protesting farmers.

Ranaut has been tangled in several legal cases over her remarks on social media platforms. Last month she was also accused of derogatory remarks against the Mumbai Police in connection with the probe in the death of the actor Shushant Singh Rajput’s case,  a criminal complaint was later filed against her.
