Kangana Ranaut Reveals Her Own Experiences Of Being Sexually Abused

Lock Upp Day 56 - After Munawar Faruqui revealed how he was sexually assaulted!

In the 56th episode of ALTBalaji and MX Player's reality competition TV series Lock Upp, contestant and stand - up comedian Munawar Faruqui reveals facing traumatic childhood abuse to save Saisha Shinde by revealing his secret. Kangana Ranaut praised him for his forthrightness and courage. She then went on to detail her own experiences of being sexually abused.

During a task in the Kangana Ranaut hosted show in which Saisha Shinde had to convince one of her co - contestants to share a secret, she asked Munawar and he agreed.

Munawar tells Kangana, "I was 6 to 7 years old when I was sexually assaulted. They were relatives. It continued for 4 to 5 years, till the time that I was an 11-year-old boy. I was sexually assaulted for that time. I would not understand for that time. It was close family. I went on for 3-4 years and once it got extreme and then they realised that should stop it."

He added, "I have never shared this with anyone as I have to face them, and they have to face the family as well. I once felt my dad got to know about it but he scolded me a lot. Perhaps he felt the same, as I did, that this is not something that should come out in the open. He began to cry and other contestants cried with him and hugged him."

Munawar tells Kangana the whole incident doesn't go off his mind. Kangana tells him she understands, as 'they are four family members, they are around you and you have to face it. It's ironic that people who love you do such things. It creates emotions that you are not able to identify. It affects our choices in life. The best is to talk about it and get it off your chest. And I'm happy that you have shared it on this platform.

Following this sad revelation, Kangana praised Munawar for his forthrightness and courage.Kangana told him, "Munawar, so many kids every year go through this kind of harassment but no one discusses this on a public platform. Everyone's touched inappropriately in childhood. This has been experienced by many including me. Every child has go through this no matter how protective their family is."

She then went on to speak about her own experiences of sexual abuse. She said, "I was child and a young boy from our town used to inappropriately touch me. At the time, I did not know what it meant, no matter how protective your family is, all kids go through this. This guy was 3-4 years elder than me, perhaps he was exploring his sexuality. He would call us, get us all to strip and check us. We would not understand it at the time. There is a huge stigma behind this, especially for men. It is very brave of you, Munawar, that you chose this platform to share your experience.'

She added, "Another point is that, you are made to feel guilty for it. This is a huge crisis for kids in our society. To tell them to difference between good and bad touch may not be enough. It becomes such a huge crisis. Kids are psychologically traumatised and scarred for life. They face such endless troubles in life."

Lock Upp, which marks Kangana's digital debut, puts its contestant in a setting resembling a cushy jail. The contestants are put through diverse tasks and dramatic situations as they fight to survive the jail, and not get evicted. Every contestant is controversial in one way or another, and that is what landed them a place in the show.
