Malayalam actor Saranya Sasi dies at 35 after a long battle with brain tumour

The 35-year-old actor had contracted Covid-19 in May this year following which she was hospitalised.


Malayalam film and television actor Saranya Sasi, who had been battling with brain tumour for a decade, breathed her last due to Covid-19 complications at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. The 35-year-old actor had contracted Covid-19 in May this year following which she was hospitalised. A few weeks later, she tested negative but the Covid-19 complications made her stay at the hospital.

As per a leading daily, Ms Sasi was rushed to the hospital due to low sodium levels in the blood and pneumonia after which she passed away on Monday at noon. Reportedly, in her fight against cancer, Saranya had undergone as many as 11 major surgeries in the past. She had been diagnosed with the tumour in 2012. Saranya acted in films like Chhota Mumbai, Thalappavu, Bombay March 12. She acted in TV soaps as well such as Kootukari, Avakashikal, Harichandanam, Malakhamar and Rahasyam.

The cancer affected her career due to which she faced a financial crisis yet she outshone as a role model for other cancer survivors. During the lockdown, she had started a YouTube channel in which she presented her culinary skills. Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shared a Facebook post to condole her death.
