Mirabai Chanu: I am a big fan of Salman Khan
Mirabai Chanu, the Olympic silver medalist, has said that she wishes to have breakfast with the Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan. In a recent interview with money control, Mirabai expressed her desire to do so.
It was during an Adidas event in Mumbai when Mirabai was asked if there’s any famous person she wants to have breakfast with, Chanu replied, “I have had the opportunity to have breakfast with Sachin sir. Someday I’d like to have a meal with Salman Khan. I’m a fan.”
She also talked about the morning after she won the medal in Tokyo, “I didn’t sleep the entire night. It was still day in India then and there were lots of calls. And then many athletes from the Indian contingent wished me. They said I had made them proud by winning a medal on the first day. It was nice.”
At the Tokyo Olympics, Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal on the very first day of the competition. Chanu bagged the silver medal for the country after she lifted 87 kg and then 115 kg in the 49 kg weightlifting category. India won a total of 7 medals in the Tokyo Olympics.
Bollywood actor Salman Khan has once met Mirabai Chanu. He also shared a photo of their meet on social media. Salman Khan captioned the photo, “Happy for you silver medalist Mirabai Chanu. It was lovely meeting you. Best wishes always!”
She was congratulated by many others. Amul dedicated a special topical to mark her accomplishment. “Worth her weight in silver,” was the tagline on the post that was shared by the dairy giants on their official Twitter account.
Business tycoon Anand Mahindra also tweeted a creative that merged the image of Lord Krishna’s devotee ‘Mirabai’ with that of the weightlifter.
