Ram Charan says never expected RRR 'to be hit worldwide'

RRR crossed the 900 crore mark globally on Sunday


Ram Charan spoke about the success of RRR, he said that "he expected the film to be a hit but never thought it would earn the No.1 tag at the global box office on the weekend of its release. That was a beautiful surprise and mind blowing for us, even for Rajamouli I feel." 

 

He opened up about the success of RRR in an interview in which he also spoke about the experience of working with his father Chiranjeevi in Acharya. 

 

On Sunday, the tenth day of its release, RRR crossed the Rs.900 crore mark globally, turning into only the fifth Indian movie ever to do so. 

 

RRR is a fictional take on the younger days of celebrated freedom fighters, Komaram Bheem and Alluri Seetharama Raju, portrayed by means of Jr NTR and Ram Charan respectively. The film is set in pre - independence India. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Ray Stevenson, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Olivia Morris, and Alison Doody. 

 

When working with Jr NTR, Ram Charan said that working with 'friend Tarak and achieving the scale of success in the best director for the direction in India" is the best that will be requested by the actor. He added that there were "so - called rivals" between him and Jr NTR but they had been friends even before RRR. 

 

Asked about experience of working Chiranjeevi in Acharya, he said that he learned a lot from him. "Its dream come true, I have learned a lot. I don't think I stepped into it as a student and I have learned a lot from him. And the best part is he never handheld me through any of the shooting days. He let me live my character and he let me make mistakes. He let me do another take. But he did not have any problem, never lose his cool, and that I am really thankful for." 

 

Ram Charan for an exclusive interview, where he not only dropped a huge bomb about his and father Chiranjeevi's roles, but also reveals why Acharya was the film where he and Chiranjeevi finally decided to share screen in full - fledged roles, and how he was initially never meant to act in the movie. 

 

Ram Charan said, "I mean it was not my decision. Yes, I am part producer in that, but, initially we had many choices...like someone from outside the family of course. And we are playing naxals. 

 

Acharya is an upcoming Indian Telugu - language action drama film. It is written and directed by Koratala Siva. It is produced by Matinee Entertainment and Konidela Production Company. The film stars Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Pooja Hegde and Kajal Aggarwal. The film is scheduled for a worldwide release on 29 April, 2022.
