Actor Sonu Sood to replace him as ‘mentor host’

After 18 years, actor-VJ Rannvijay Singha has decided to quit the reality show Roadies, as per a report by Hindustan Times. A source told the publication, "A new production house is looking after the nineteenth season, and Rannvijay isn't very pleased with them. So, they decided to part ways."

Confirming the development Rannvijay told Hindustan Times, "MTV has been a key pillar in my journey, and I will continue doing interesting work for them. For this edition of 'Roadies', our dates were not matching and there were other issues, so we had to part ways. It is disheartening."

Singha added that he has been working with the channel for 18 years and that he has done different shows with the network.

“Production aur mera koi taal mel hai nahi” he said.

According to the publications, Sonu Sood will be the new host of the show, and there will also be a subsequent change in the show’s format. Sonu will be the only mentor-host this year and face of the edition, as the concept of gang leaders has been dropped by the makers, which also means Neha Dhupia, Prince Narula and others might not appear on the show.

Last year the show was won by Hamid Barkzi with his gang leader Nikhil Chinapa, the runner up of the latest season was Micheal Ajay who was also from Nikhil Chinapa’s gang. It was the first win for Nikhil Chinapa as a gang leader.

The upcoming season of the Roadies will be shot in South Africa and will go on floors from February 14.
