Roohi Collects Rs 5 Crore In 2 Days

Roohi movie had a great opening with a collection of Rs 3 Crore on the first day and Rs 2.25 crore on day two, pushing its total to over Rs 5 crore.

Horror-comedy titled Roohi, with an ensemble cast of Janhvi Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Varun Sharma in the lead roles, had a good beginning at the box office. The film opened in theatres on 11 March and managed to collect over Rs. 3 crore on its first day. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh, sharing the film's box office report, wrote a note on social media that "Roohi springs a pleasant surprise on Day 1, despite Covid pandemic."  Taran also added that "Maha Shivratri holiday proves advantageous... National multiplexes contribute maximum (approx Rs. 1.89 cr), while tier 2 cities show decent footfalls... Thursday Rs. 3.06 crore India biz," on twitter.

Contrary to its box office success, the film did not garner great reviews. In his review, film critic Saibal Chatterjee gave 2 stars out of 5 to the flick and also wrote that "Roohi is the first Hindi theatrical release in well over a month. The question is does it have the force to pull audiences back to the multiplexes. Unlikely. It certainly isn't the vaccine of hope and delight that filmgoers, starved of big-screen entertainment for a whole year, need at this hour''.

Roohi was earlier titled RoohAfza. This movie is directed by Hardik Mehta.
