Rudra : The Edge Of Darkness Web Series Review

Remake of the psychological crime thriller Luther

The six - episodes series, a remake of British show 'Luther', is out on Disney + Hotstar. The chemistry between Ajay Devgan's Supercop Rudraveer Singh and Raashi Khanna. It is an Indian upcoming psychological crime thriller.

Rudra - The Edge of Darkness, is a race against the clock thriller that delves into the psyche of highly intelligent criminals and the detective who hunts them. Each episodes in the series features a new threat even as the overarching series arc continues, portraying the grave personal cost at which DCP Rudra Veer Singh pursues criminals and killers and the unlikely friendship that he forms with Aliyah, a genius sociopath.

It is an out -and- out Ajay Devgan series and the actor has made a fantastic OTT debut. However there are a few emotional sequences that slim slightly uncomfortable for the actor knowing that he is a huge action star. Nevertheless the actor makes it up by letting his eyes do the talking but there is a less to converse about this time.

The major change lies in how Devgn plays the titular character. While Elba's John Luther was a volatile and loud man, Devgan's Deputy Commisioner of Police Rudraveer Singh is somber.

The six episodes track Rudra's tempestuous personal life, involving his estranged wife and her new good boy lover Rajiv Satyadeep Mishra, while he chases some dastardly criminals, at least two of whom are psychosexually deviant and one may have been sexually abused by his father.

The makers have cautiously made an effort to ensure the adaptation has a life of its own. Starting with the dark visual tone and theme song, Tera Inaam, by Ananya Birla, the team builds the show, brick by brick. The episodes, despite their length, hold your attention.

There is a scope for the second season going by the story of the original series. But the end gives a little change to look forward to the next installment.
