Sachin Tendulkar contracts Covid virus


Cricket icon, Sachin Tendulkar disclosed on Saturday that he had tested positive for Covid-19 amidst the new wave of virus. The world's most successful international batsman, shared the news of his contracting the virus on twitter, saying that he has isolated himself at his home.

He tweeted that "I have been testing myself and taking all the recommended precautions to ensure Covid is kept at bay. However, I've tested positive today following mild symptoms. All others at home have tested negative. I've quarantined myself at home and am following all the necessary protocols as advised by my doctors," the cricket legend wrote. "I want to thank all the healthcare professionals who are supporting me and many others across the country." he further wrote .

Cricketer Sachin, who retired from international cricket in 2013, was recently in action during the Road Safety World Series where he led the India Legends to the title, beating Sri Lanka legends in the summit clash.  

Sachin Tendulkar was the captain of the India Legends team in 1996. The batsman hit the ball and scored 223 runs in 7 matches in the Road Safety World Series with a highest score of 65 runs.

Covid 19 have been on a surge in Maharashtra and National Capital with over 36,000 positive cases recorded on Friday.
