Shah Rukh Khan calls Assam CM over “Pathaan” riots in Guwahati

CM Hemanta says SRK called him at 2 am

On Sunday the Chief Minister of Assam Mr. Hemanta Biswa Sharma tweeted that Bollywood Megastar Shah Rukh Khan had called him at 2am to talk to him about the riot that took place in a cinema hall in Guwahati on Friday. In his tweet he also mentions that Shah Rukh Khan expressed his concern for the incident in Guwahati and Biswa assured him that it’s the duty of the state to ensure law and order.

This comes after his remark the previous day where he questions who is “Shah Rukh Khan”. He even goes on to say that he has no idea what this “Pathaan- Wathaan” is. Biswa further added “Those who have made the film have also not said anything. I take everyone’s phone calls. Why should we worry? Shah Rukh Khan would have if there was a problem … If Shah Rukh Khan calls, I’ll see what the issue is.”

The incident that took place on Friday happened in front of the the Gold Digital Cinema Hall in Guwahati, where people from the Bajrang Dal gathered together and were filmed vandalising and burning Pathaan posters and shouting “Jai Shri Ram”. Pathaan, starring Khan and Deepika Padukone, is set to release on January 25.

Following Biswa’s tweet the opposition party started to ridicule the CM of Assam in response to his previous question “Who is  Shah Rukh Khan?”. Political leaders such as Pawan Khera the leader of Congress, AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and APP MLA from Delhi Naresh Balyan and many others responded to the CM’s tweet with mockery.
