Shaitaan Box office day 3

Ajay Devgn's film shows strong performance

In New Delhi, Ajay Devgn's film "Shaitaan" saw a significant rise in box office earnings on its third day. After collecting Rs 14.75 crore on day 1 and Rs 18.75 crore on day 2, the movie made Rs 20.5 crore on Sunday, totaling its domestic box office earnings to Rs 54 crore. The horror thriller, released on March 8, stars R Madhavan, Jyotihka, and Janki Bodiwala alongside Devgn. "Shaitaan" is a remake of the Gujarati film "Vash," released in February last year, and is directed by Vikas Bahl, known for his work on projects like "Queen" and "Super 30."

"Shaitaan," a remake of a recent Gujarati film, caters to Ajay Devgn's fan base, known for their admiration of his tough-guy persona tackling any challenge, whether as an invisible police officer or a protective father. The film aims for a high fear factor, intending to keep audiences on edge. However, the execution of terrifying scenes falls short, characterized by pedestrian methods and overused clichés. As a result, the film received a rating of 1.5 stars out of 5 from Saibal Chatterjee.

The review praised Jyothika's performance, noting that she managed to elevate her role above the absurdity of the film's proceedings. However, it criticized the male characters and their actors, stating that they were unable to match her performance. The clash between the protagonist and antagonist was described as dragging the film into a realm devoid of any redeeming qualities.
