Shashikala Passed Away On Sunday

Bollywood actress Shashikala passed away in Mumbai, at the age of 88


On Sunday, Veteran actress Shashikala breathed her last in the afternoon. She was 88 and died of old age in Colaba, Mumbai. Most knowing Dadi, Shashikala had worked in more than a hundred Bollywood films and also worked in some television series. She was famous for her performance in films such as Daku, Raasta and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.

Dadi was a part of films such as Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, 1953 release Teen Batti Char Raasta, and 1968 film Teen Bahuraniyan. Some of her other films include Ayee Milan Ki Bela, Gumra, Sujata, Aarti among many more. Shashikala also worked extensively in television and was a part of most popular shows like Sonpari and Jeena Isi ka Naam Hai.

A Indian Film Actress for her overwhelming contribution to Indian Cinema, Shashikala was conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award in the year 2007. In 2009, she received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the V Shantaram Awards.

Actor Jagdeep’s son Naved Jafri confirmed her demise and wrote on social media, “Our dear Shashikala Ji is no more. She was a great artist. May the almighty give the family strength and patience to bear this irreplaceable loss. Deepest condolences #ShashiKala #RIPShashikala.” Showered blessings for her.

Indian politician and businessman Praful Patel wrote, “Deeply saddened by the demise of Veteran actress Shashikala ji. She made a noteworthy contribution to Indian Cinema by portraying several pivotal roles. My heartfelt condolences to her family members. May her soul rest in peace.” On twitter.

The famous Dadi was born in August 1932 in a Maharashtrian family belonging to Solapur and she has two daughters from her marriage with Om Prakash Saigal. She was last seen in the release of Padmashree Laloo Prasad Yadav in 2005, wherein she portrayed the role of a South African witness.
