A Savior without a cape for millions across the country during the pandemic


Actor Sonu Sood became a blessing for many people during the lockdown in 2020 and through his charity organization, continues to help people in need.

 

The actor not only helped migrant workers reach their hometown but also came forward to help people in hospitals or who were under financial debt. Sonu Sood's foundation has been continuing with its charity work even after the lockdown ended. 

 

Since then, any time anyone has a problem, they knock at his door in the assurance that their problems will be solved. Bollywood star Sonu Sood is making headlines for his philanthropic efforts. 

 

Sonu told in an interview, "I will give you a small example - A gentleman called Wilson from Aster Hospitals connected with me on a recent trip to Dubai and said the group would like to collaborate with me in helping people with their medical needs.

 

So, I said that I'll promote the hospitals, but give me 50 liver transplants. That is almost Rs. 12 crores in value. As we speak, there are two transplants happening for people who would never be able to afford these surgeries. That's the magic of connecting the rights dots. People come to you and say how can we help, and we find a way." 

 

He added, "money he earned for his last few endorsements has been 'given to charity', Sometimes they give it directly to a school or hospital, sometimes they route it through our charity - we are open to anything." 

 

In July 2016, he established the production house Shakti Sagar Productions, which is named after his father, Shakti Sagar Sood. In September 2020, Sood was chosen for the 'SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award' by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for his Humanitarian works during the Covid - 19 pandemic. 

 

Sonu was most recently seen in Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan starrer Acharya. He played the antagonist in the film that hit theatres on April 29. He is also the host on the latest edition of the reality show MTV Roadies. 

 

Sonu will be seen in Prithviraj. It is an upcoming Indian Hindi - language historical action-drama film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films.

 

The film is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj Bhasha epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, a Rajput King from the Chahamana dynasty. It features Akshay Kumar as Prithviraj Chauhan, while Manushi Chhillar makes her Hindi film debut playing the role of Sanyogita.

 

The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij and Lalit Tiwari in other important characters. It is scheduled for release on 03 June 2022.
