Sooryavanshi release date Postponed Again

film release postponed due to Covid

On Monday,The big-budget cop makers of Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif's Sooryavanshi announced they have postponed the film’s release indefinitely owing to the surge in the Covid cases in Maharashtra.

The decision came a day after Maharashtra government announced night curfew and a weekend lockdown to curb the rising cases in the state due to pandemic, under which theatres will remain shut till April 30 as per the government’s protocol. Earlier also the film was delayed because of the nationwide lockdown announced to restrict the spread of the novel coronavirus along with safety and follow all the guidelines.

Last year in October, theatres were permitted to allow resuming operations, at 50 percent capacity of occupancy. In February 2021, the Central government announced an increase in occupancy in the context of theatre, which encouraged production houses to schedule their films for theatres properly. The film’s team production released an official statement and announced for the same. Director Rohit Shetty informed his decision through a statement to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in a virtual meeting which was held on 4th April.

According to the sources, the note read, “The Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray had a discussion with director Rohit Shetty yesterday. In the meeting, Uddhav Thackeray appreciated Rohit Shetty as he took the brave and difficult decision of postponing Sooryavanshi owing to the current Covid situation in the state”.
