Super Star Salman Khan Accused Of Threatening, Snatching Away A Journalist's Mobile Phone

Salman has approached the Bombay HC against summon issued to him

On Tuesday, 05 April 2022, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has approached the Bombay High Court against the summons that have been issued to him by Andheri Magistrate court. The actor was supposed to be present before the Magistrate court.

The Metropolitan Magistrate court at Andheri in Mumbai has issued summons to the actor and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh in a complaint filed by a journalist over a dispute in 2019.

According to the complaint, Salman Khan had snatched away the journalist's mobile phone while cycling on the streets of Mumbai. The incident took place when media persons had started clicking his photos while he was cycling.

The actor had allegedly entered into an argument and threatened the journalist. The court had sought a report from DN Magar police station on this issue.

The court noted that the investigating officer of DN Nagar Police Station has filed a report in which "he has reported that on the day of incident, a dispute took place between complainant and proposed accused persons (Khan and Shaikh).

The investigating officer has quoted that offences under section 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC have been made out against accused persons," Magistrate RR Khan had noted.

The court issued a process and with it, summons were issued. Issuance of a process marks the beginning of criminal proceedings before a metropolitan or a judicial magistrate on the basis of a complaint lodged by an individual.

The magistrate court issues the process if it finds prima facie substance in the allegations made in the complaint. Once a process is issued, the accused persons have to appear before the court for the hearing.
