Tax raids at Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap's properties

The searches are being carried out over alleged tax evasion.

The Income Tax Department carried out raids at the properties of actor Taapsee Pannu, film director Anurag Kashyap and filmmaker Vikas Bahl in Mumbai on Wednesday, reported The Times of India. The searches are being carried out at nearly 20 locations in Mumbai and Pune, including the offices of a talent agency, Mr Kashyap's Phantom Films and producer Madhu Mantena over alleged tax evasion, reported NDTV.

Mr Kashyap and Ms Pannu have often spoken about the national issues including the farmers' protest. Ms Pannu supported the agitation against the three farm laws and even criticized the tweets by celebrities that showed solidarity with the government against Rihanna and Greta Thunberg's post.

"If one tweet rattles your unity, one joke rattles your faith or one show rattles your religious belief, then it's you who has to work on strengthening your value system not become propaganda teachers for others," Ms Pannu had said on social media last month.
