Vidya Balan & Shefali Shah starrer 'Jalsa'

Shefali Shah reveals co - star Vidya's surprising qualities

The much - awaited drama thriller Jalsa is all set to release this Friday, 18th March 2022. It has gone for the OTT platform and will be digitally released. The film features a stellar ensemble of actors like - Vidya Balan, Shefali Shah, Manav Kaul, Rohini Hattangadi, Iqbal Khan, Vidhatri Bandi, Shrikant Mohan Yadav, Shafeen Patel and Surya Kasibhatta. 

Shefali and Vidya are out and about promoting the movie ahead of its release. In a recent media conversation, they both talked about their wonderful experience of working together. 

Shefali asked by interviewer about that one quality of Vidya that surprised her while working with her, the actress had a beautiful answer - She expressed that she admires her as an actor, woman and human being. 

She said, "Vidya has a lot of warmth and genuineness and she excuses it and that she doesn't she any falsity in her. She expressed that it is a very important quality for her. "What I admire about  Vidya the most is the fact that she's grounded and yet she is confident in her own space." 

She added, Vidya is very comfortable and confident about who she is without ego or arrogance. She expressed that she really wished that she could do that too. She confessed that she is burdened with self  - doubt all the time and said she was sure that Vidya must have also had the same, at some point. 

Vidya replied, I have met Shefali a couple of times socially, but when we met for 'Jalsa', she gave me the longest and warmest hug of all time. On the set, she was like a child. I'd watch her on set and she'd constantly be doing Masti with the team. I was surprised to see how fun she was as a person. As an actor, God bless her and I feel she will always have that 'magic'. 

The way she imbues every character with so much feeling is what amazed me before I had worked with her and even after working with her I wasn't able to figure that out. That's her magic, I guess. 

Vidya is married to film producer Siddharth Roy Kapur. Vidya aspired to a career in film from young age. She works mainly in Hindi Cinema. She is a member of the Indian Central Board of Film Certification and hosts a radio show.
